Side Chick Inn is a small, independent poultry operation based in northern Maine.
We started this as two local guys who couldn’t find consistent availability of chicks, or birds that fit what we were actually looking for- hardy, practical stock suited to real northern conditions. Rather than settle, we decided to raise our own and fill a gap that wasn’t being met locally.
We breed and raise poultry including chickens, guinea fowl, quail, and gees, with a focus on strong, healthy stock adapted to the harsh climate of Aroostook County. Our birds are selected for hardiness, temperament, and practical productivity rather than show standards.
Our chicken stock is a barnyard mix developed from multiple cold-hardy and utility breeds. This diversity supports resilience, fertility, and adaptability in real-world conditions. All birds are raised with attention to cleanliness, biosecurity, and humane handling. We prioritize clear communication, honest descriptions, and straightforward pick-up arrangements.
